Carlo’s 40th Birthday

Team Adventure

Frisco, TX

SCROLL DOWN TO START YOUR ADVENTURE

This adventure challenge is designed to bring your squad closer together and get you to explore the surrounding area while having fun and staying safe. Please follow all local and state laws and be respectful of anyone or any business you interact with along the way.

Here Are The Rules

1. Read each challenge carefully and click on any provided links to view helpful pictures, videos, and requirements for each challenge.

2. Complete as many challenges as you can in the given time frame. Challenges can be completed in any order. Challenges are often designed to bring you together through fun, difficult, or embarrassing experiences, so complete whatever challenges you and your group are comfortable with. Just be sure to create some unforgettable moments and content that your group will cherish forever!

3. Some challenges may require a few basic supplies to complete them. Figuring out how to obtain these supplies somewhere in the area is part of the strategy so work together and use what you’ve got to get what you need.

4. Team members need to stay together throughout the adventure, however, if you are all at the same location and searching for an item you can spread out until it is found and then regroup to take the necessary picture/video.

5. Capture as many team members in your picture or video as possible. When out in the community, teams often ask a kind stranger to take their picture or video so that the entire team can get on film. If it's necessary to have someone on your own team film certain challenges be sure to rotate who that person is so that everyone is actively involved in completing challenges throughout the adventure.

CHALLENGES

#1: To relive the glory days of Creekview football, get everyone to the Cowboys replica field on the plaza at The Star. Line up your group along the goal line and have everyone put on under eye stickers to get psyched up. Then take a video of everyone competing in one big group 40 yard dash. After crossing the finish, have everyone lift the winner of the race up to shoulder level (just like Rudy) and take a celebratory group picture. Did you know Carlo shares his birthday with football legend Walter Payton who ran a 4.4 second 40 yard dash?

#2: Get your team to Countdown 2 Escape (6963 Main Street) and head inside. In the lobby will be a locked box specifically for your group and a code puzzle. Work together to solve the puzzle and figure out the meaningful 3-digit number that will unlock the box and reveal the reward inside. Once you have successfully cracked the code and unlocked the box take a fun team picture while everyone is doing their best secret agent pose.

#3: At any point throughout the experience have each participant record their own video describing one of their favorite memories with Carlo and send it to him either privately on in a group chat so everyone can reminisce. An alternative is to post one of your favorite pictures of Carlo on social media and describe why that memory is so meaningful.

#4: After 40 years of life some people will try expensive procedures to keep their youthful looks. But there’s a much more affordable solution. Take a fun team picture after everyone uses Scotch tape to dramatically stretch and distort their faces. To create the proper “I’m still 39" look you’ll need at least 5 pieces of tape per face, although the more the better! For some inspiration click HERE.

#5: At any point throughout the adventure get your team to a place (or multiple places if needed) with a variety of drink options. Once there, have each team member order a shot (traditional or non-alcoholic) that starts with the same first letter as their first name. Then take a quick video with each person one at a time saying their name and the name of their drink, followed by everyone doing a cheers and drinking up!

#6: It’s no secret that Carlo is an avid gamer and loves to battle others in the virtual world, but how well do those skills translate to the physical realm? Get the entire group somewhere outside the National Videogame Museum. Once there, divide the large group into smaller teams of roughly 5 people per team. Then have each team compete in their own Rock, Paper, Scissors battle. Basically, in each team, have everyone throw their chosen symbol at the same time. If rock, paper, and scissors are all thrown, it is a stalemate, and you all rethrow. If only two symbols are thrown, all players with the losing symbol are eliminated. Play continues until only one winner remains in each team. Then have the winners from each team compete against each other in one final battle while the rest of their team cheers for their finalist. Once a champion has been declared take a fun picture of the entire group with the museum in the background while the champion and their team are flashing their winning symbol and everyone else is looking defeated.

#7: Research shows that as we grow older our bodies tend to be more sore and it’s more difficult for our muscles to recover. To help Carlo counteract this, get your entire group to one of the local cryotherapy facilities (if it’s before 3:45pm head to iV Bars & Cryotherapy of Frisco at 5566 Main Street #150, or if it’s after 3:45pm head to iCRYO at 6363 Dallas Parkway #105). Once inside have Carlo get prepped for his cryotherapy session. Once he is in the chamber take a fun group picture with him while everyone is surrounding the machine looking frozen. Please note, the number of people allowed inside may vary depending on which facility you go to and how many total people are in the group.

#8: The only thing hotter than Frisco in late July might be your mouth after this challenge. Get your team to either Dave’s Hot Chicken or Ricky’s Hot Chicken. Once there get an order of whatever their hottest flavor chicken tender is. Then take a video of your team members, at the same time, all consuming a separate bite-sized piece of this extremely spicy food. Just before your bite try to show that it's actually the hottest flavor on the packaging or receipt and then film for at least 30 seconds after the bite to document your reactions. Disclaimer, this will likely not be pleasant, which is exactly the point. Because a team that suffers together, grows together.

#9: Anywhere around the area find a stranger who is 80 years old or older. Take some time to chat with them, listen to a story they may have about the local area, or just ask them about their life. Then at some point take a video asking them to give Carlo some birthday advice about “the meaning of life”.

#10: In 1922, a devastating fire destroyed almost all of the downtown businesses here in Frisco, leaving only the brick shells of buildings to stand as a reminder of the past. To honor the brave firefighters that have protected this community over the years, and protect it currently, take a video of your team completing "Stop, Drop, and Roll" in any business around the area (not a home) while any regulation/operable fire extinguisher is visible in the background. Be sure to yell each step of the fire safety technique as you all do it together and make sure the fire extinguisher is clearly visible at some point in your video.

#11: Did you know today is National Day of The Cowboy? It was more than 35 years ago that Pee Wee Herman had a big adventure here in Texas. Anywhere around the area find any two strangers wearing cowboy hats or cowboy boots. You could also find one wearing a hat and one wearing boots but both strangers would need to be wearing one of the required items. Once you’ve found them, take a video of your team all singing the first line of the classic 1941 song "Deep in the Heart of Texas", and then have the two strangers respond accordingly (with clapping and singing)! To see an example of this song being sung successfully click HERE. Sing it loud and proud and encourage your Texas loving strangers to do the same, or else Large Marge might find you!

#12: What kind of birthday would it be without at least one big wrapped present? As a large group work together to wrap Carlo from head to toe in toilet paper leaving as few gaps as possible except around his nose/mouth so he can breathe easily. Then take a fun group picture with him all wrapped up, and at some point throughout the process have a few group members state one reason why Carlo is a “gift” to them.

#13: Find the Frisco mural seen HERE. Once there, take a fun team picture showing Carlo some love (maybe mimicking the heart hand pose, giving him a big group hug if you’re all together, etc). Then at some point send the picture to Carlo or post it online and have a few group members comment why you love him.

#14: Did you know today is World Brain Day? You don’t get a degree in Nanotechnology without having an incredible ability to focus. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, playing games such as Simon probably helped a lot of kids focus, and may have had an impact on Carlo’s passion for all types of games. The question is, now that he’s 40 can he still beat the machine and the competition? Click HERE and then select “Memory” to play a modern version of Simon. Then, anywhere along the way have everyone in the group play the game only one time and document their high score by having someone take a celebratory picture of them while they’re displaying their phone screens and the point total is clearly visible. Then after the event rank everyone by total points and see where you (and Carlo) land on the leaderboard.

#15: Anywhere around the area find an active military person or a veteran. Then take a video of them watching your entire team doing 10 push-ups, sit-ups or jumping jacks at their feet to honor their strength and courage. After you’ve finished recording, spend a few minutes learning more about their time in the service before you depart, as a small gesture of appreciation.

#16: Get your team anywhere outside of the Dude Perfect HQ. Once there, take a video of any two team members both successfully completing the “Bottle Flip Challenge” at exactly the same time while their HQ is visible in the background. Basically, take a video of both members each flipping their own standard (16 ounces or so) bottle of water onto a hard surface, and getting it to successfully remain standing upright once it lands. The bottle can be filled with as much water as needed to improve your chances of completing the challenge successfully. What will make this challenge difficult is getting two people to make a successful flip on the same attempt. Your entire team can all be attempting the challenge together, as long as any two team members land the flip on the same attempt. To watch a video of two people successfully completing this challenge together click HERE.

#17: One of the ways you can stay young after turning 40 is by keeping up with the trends of today’s youth. Find any group of youth (two or more people under the age of 18) and take a video of them teaching your team members how to “Floss”. And no, it has nothing to do with your teeth.

#18: Get every team member a large (16 ounces or so) open-top paper, plastic, or foam cup and fill it with water. Then somewhere outdoors, line up shoulder to shoulder and have each team member balance a full cup on their head. Once everyone’s cups are balanced, hold hands with the team members on either side of you and take a video of your team working together to all take 10 steps forward without anyone touching their own cup (or another team member’s cup) or having it spill. If someone’s cup spills make sure to encourage them and then refill any spilled cups and start again as a team. After your team successfully travels 10 steps together dump the cups to prove they were full, and celebrate!

#19: Take a video of your team successfully completing the Whipped Cream Catapult Challenge. Divide your team into pairs. Have one person from the pair squirt a small lump of whipped cream onto the back of their hand. That person should launch the whipped cream to their partner using the “arm catapult” technique seen in the video HERE. The second person should successfully catch the whipped cream in their mouth, or at least catch some of it in their mouth and the rest on their face. To complete this challenge at least half your team should make a successful catch in the video.

#20: Get to any clothing or apparel store and find two different items with enough in stock that every team member can be wearing the same two items in their own sizes. Then take a fun team picture with everyone wearing those items. For example it may be a wacky shirt, and a pair of shorts. Or maybe some cozy slippers and a large sun hat. As long as everyone is wearing the same exact two items but in their own sizes.
