CHALLENGES

#1: Get your team to El Limon (103 Spring Mill Ave) and ask the staff for the hot sauce designated for this scavenger hunt. Then, take a video of your team members all at the same time consuming separate spoonfuls of that hot sauce. Make sure to show the bottle of hot sauce in the video so everyone knows that it's actually hot sauce you're consuming. Disclaimer, this will likely not be pleasant, which is exactly the point. Because a team that suffers together, grows together.

#2: Get to any clothing or apparel store and find two different items with enough in stock that every team member can be wearing the same two items in their own sizes. Then take a fun team picture with everyone wearing those items. For example it may be a wacky shirt, and a pair of shorts. Or maybe some cozy slippers and a large sun hat. As long as everyone is wearing the same exact two items but in their own sizes.

#3: Take a picture of your team performing any variation of the Downward Dog yoga pose, while you are with any real-life dog here in town. After your photo, give the hound a hug if their human says it’s alright. To view some Downward Dog variations click HERE.

#4: Today is National Homemade Cookie Day! To honor this tasty holiday, get your team to Insomnia Cookies (121 Fayette Street). Ask a staff member for the box of cookies designated for this scavenger hunt. Each team member has been allotted one cookie so if you drop it you would need to keep using that cookie (5 second rule!). Take a video of any ONE team member successfully completing the Cookie Face Challenge. Basically, place your cookie on your forehead and using only your facial muscles and gravity attempt to move the cookie down your face and into your mouth without grabbing it with your hand or having it fall off. If it falls off place the cookie back on your forehead and try again. All team members can be attempting the challenge but only one needs to successfully complete it. Connection Question For Challenge #4

#5: At ConcertAI, turning real-world data into meaningful insights means looking beyond the surface to understand the individual stories behind it. Now it’s your turn to uncover one of those stories. Find a stranger (not someone on your team or from ConcertAI) who has a tattoo and take a video as they explain the story behind it or why they chose it. The tattoo must be visible at some point during the video.

#6: Now that it’s October you can put up those Halloween decorations without feeling judged by your neighbors! To celebrate the beginning of the spooky season, wrap any one member of your team from head to toe in toilet paper (or multiple team members if they want to get in on the fun) leaving as few gaps as possible except around their nose/mouth so they can breathe easily. Then take a fun team picture with your new "mummy” team member!

#7: Anywhere around the area, find an establishment that has an animal in it's name and take a fun team picture or video with everyone posing or acting like that specific animal while the establishment’s signage is clearly visible in the background. Please note you’re looking for a place with the animal in it’s actual name such as "The Friendly Giraffe" and not a place that lists an animal as something that is served there such as "Joe’s Spicy Chicken". The animal could also be of the mythical variety, such as a unicorn, as long as it’s part of the establishment’s name.

#8: Get your team to the lesser known war memorial here in town (shown HERE) that includes an actual ship anchor, a Howitzer, and a Gatling Gun. Once there, designate one of your teammates as an “injured soldier”. Then take a picture demonstrating the “correct way to carry an injured soldier”, as referenced in the picture found HERE by soldiers from the 1800’s. If you have a lot of people on your team you can divide up and carry multiple “victims” if you want. Or if you have a small team you can recruit strangers to help out if needed. Make sure the antique artillery is visible somewhere in your picture and then gently lower your victim back down after you’re finished.

#9: Take a video of any two team members successfully completing the Pencil Pass Challenge. Basically one racer has a pencil lying across their upper lip and is holding it in place using only their lips and nose (no hands). A second racer must transfer the pencil to their upper lip without dropping it and without using their hands. The two racers faces will be very close to each other trying to transfer the pencil from one upper lip to the other without dropping it. #10: Anywhere around the area, take a picture of your team forming a 3-tiered, human pyramid inside of any elevator. You’ll need at least 6 people to properly form 3 tiers, so recruit kind strangers as needed if some of your team members choose to cheer you on instead. The elevator can be stopped at a floor with the door open as long as your pyramid is performed inside the actual elevator.

#12: This area of California is considered one of the birthplaces of modern ocean lifeguarding, where organized surf lifesaving began in the early 1900s to protect swimmers drawn to its powerful waves. To honor the many lives rescued worldwide because of the programs, techniques and equipment created here, find any official Lifeguard cross emblem around the area. Once you’ve found one, designate one of your teammates as an “injured victim”. Then take a picture demonstrating the “correct way to carry a victim out of an emergency”, as referenced in the picture found HERE from an old rescuer manual. If you have a lot of people on your team you can divide up and carry multiple “victims” if you want. Or if you have a small team you can recruit strangers to help out if needed. Make sure the lifeguard cross emblem (not just the word lifeguard somewhere) is visible somewhere in your picture and then gently lower your victim back down after you’re finished, just like the original guards would have done.

#13: Taylor Swift continues to solidify her status as a global music icon, with her Era’s Tour becoming the highest-grossing concert tour in history and her new album releasing next week! To celebrate this legend, anywhere around the area take a team picture with any public digital clock (not a cell phone or personal watch) when the digits add up to Taylor Swift’s lucky number. For example, if her lucky number were 12 (it’s not) then 11:46am would be acceptable because 1+1+4+6=12. Similarly, 3:09pm would also be acceptable, or any other time where the sum of the individual digits equals Taylor’s lucky number. Once you’ve found one, take a fun team picture with it while you all strike your best T-Swift concert pose, before the time changes and you realize you weren’t Ready For It!

#14: The last full week in September is National Dog Week, which was created to celebrate the important role dogs play in our lives as companions, protectors and loyal members of the family. To honor our furry best friends and all the joy they bring us, take a picture of your team performing any variation of the Downward Dog yoga pose, while you are with TWO real-life dogs at the same time. #15: When Alexandra “Alex” Scott was just four years old, she created a lemonade stand in her front yard and held her first childhood cancer fundraiser. That day she raised $2,000! She continued to host lemonade stands throughout her community and by the time of her death in 2004, Alex raised over $1 million and inspired a legacy of hope and cures for childhood cancer. To honor those, and their families, who are impacted by childhood cancer, take a proud group picture showing off your hands once every member of your group has gotten their fingernails painted bright yellow (the international color for childhood cancer awareness) using real nail polish.
