Gloria’s Bachelorette Adventure
This adventure challenge is designed to bring your squad closer together and get you to explore the surrounding area while staying safe and healthy. Please follow the current CDC guidelines and your local authorities for the best ways to protect yourselves and those in your community.
Here Are The Rules
Read each challenge carefully and click on any provided links to view helpful pictures, videos, and requirements for each challenge.
Complete as many challenges as you can in the given time frame. Challenges can be completed in any order. Challenges are often designed to bring you together through fun, difficult, or embarrassing experiences, so complete whatever challenges you and your group are comfortable with. Just be sure to create some unforgettable moments and insta-worthy content that your group will cherish forever!
Some challenges may require a few basic supplies to complete them. Figuring out how to obtain these supplies somewhere in the area is part of the strategy so work together and use what you’ve got to get what you need.
Teams need to stay together throughout the adventure, however, if you are all at the same location and searching for an item you can spread out until it is found and then regroup to take the necessary picture/video.
Capture as many team members in your picture or video as possible. When out in the community, teams often ask a kind stranger to take their picture or video so that the entire team can get on film. If it's necessary to have someone on your own team film certain challenges be sure to rotate who that person is so that everyone is actively involved in completing challenges throughout the adventure.
CHALLENGES
#1: Find a couple that's been married at least 50 years or contact one via Facetime, Zoom, etc, and take a video of them giving their best advice for Gloria and Dustin on how to have a long and happy life together.
#2: Find any willing MALE stranger and take a video of your team using any brand of hair removal strips to safely remove one strip of their chest, back, arm, or leg hair according to the instructions on the package. As an alternative you could also take them to a salon that offers this type of service. Choose one body location that they feel comfortable getting “waxed”, and has enough hair that it would show up on the strip after being removed. You may need to buy this guy a drink beforehand not only as a thank you, but to help drown out the screaming.
#3: Get the entire bachelorette group (all teams) to the “I Love You” mural located on the side of Bucky Moonshines (2912 Elm Street). Take a fun picture showing Gloria some love while the mural is clearly visible in the background. Then have each team member post that picture to their preferred social media network, tag Gloria, and in the post description mention something that you love about the bride to be.
#4: Take a video of your team successfully completing the Whipped Cream Catapult Challenge. There are two options for completing this depending on your Covid comfort level with the other members of your team. Option #1 is to divide your team into pairs. Have someone squirt a dollop (small lump) of whipped cream onto the back of their hand. Have the other person stand a few feet away from them ready to catch the whipped cream in their mouth. The person with the whipped cream on their hand will swing their arm back, palm down. When that hand gets back in front of them at about waist height, they’ll strike their wrist with their other free hand, causing the whipped cream to go flying. The second person should successfully catch the whipped cream in their mouth, or at least catch some of it in their mouth and the rest on their face. For this option, at least half your team should make a successful catch in the video. For Option #2 each team member will put the whipped cream on the back of their own hand and fling it up to themselves, at least 3 feet above their head. For this option everyone on the team would need to make a successful catch in the video. To understand the challenge better and to watch a video of a team successfully completing it click HERE.
#5: Research shows that consuming raw garlic can boost your immune system. So take a video of all your team members each chewing a separate raw clove of garlic for at least 15 full seconds, Team members should be actively chewing the clove and not just holding it in their mouths. Disclaimer, although healthy this will likely not be pleasant, which is exactly the point.
#6: Anywhere along the way, find a condom and take a video of any one team member completing the Condom Head Challenge. Basically they’ll be stretching the condom over a portion of their head (not their mouth) and using their nose to inflate the condom into an awkward balloon. To watch someone successfully complete this challenge click HERE. All team members can be attempting the challenge but only one needs to successfully inflate their condom. In addition to the video you may also want to capture a hilarious group picture with the inflated condom(s).
#7: Find a Texas state flag anywhere around the city. Once there, gather a group of at least 5 strangers and take a video of your team all singing the first line of the classic 1941 song "Deep in the Heart of Texas", and then have the group of strangers respond accordingly (with clapping and singing)! To see an example of this song being sung successfully click HERE. Sing it loud and proud and make sure the Texas flag is visible at some point in your video.
#8: A great relationship means you can look your absolute worst and your significant other still thinks you’re beautiful. To test this concept for everyone’s current or future love interest, take a fun group picture after everyone uses Scotch tape to dramatically stretch and distort their faces. For some inspiration click HERE.
#9: Get the entire bachelorette group (all teams) together and wrap the soon to be bride in a full length white “dress” made entirely of toilet paper, leaving as few gaps as possible and including a veil if you think it makes her look even more glamorous. Then take a fun group picture with everyone having a different role in a staged wedding day scene.
#10: Click HERE and choose a funny nickname for the male member from the list, or choose one you’re familiar with that didn’t make the list. Then take a video of your team having a discussion with a retail employee about whether they have/offer a product by the same name. For example, whether a toy store has any One-Eyed Monsters, or maybe if a health food store sells any Yogurt Shooters. Extra respect for keeping the video going after they ask you to describe what you're looking for.
#11: June is National Dairy Month (it’s true, look it up). Take a video of any racer tossing an unwrapped slice of cheese onto the face of another racer from more than 8 feet away. The person “catching” the cheese can maneuver their head and body as long as they remain at least 8 feet from the thrower. The cheese will need to stick to their face, not just hit it and fall off. The challenge really comes down to the thrower being able to accurately toss cheese onto a small target, and the catcher being alright with dirty and sticky dairy products repeatedly smacking them in the face.
#12: Somewhere outdoors, take a video of any one team member balancing a large (16 ounces or so) open-top paper, plastic, or foam cup on their head filled with water. Then have them close their eyes and walk 10 paces ahead without touching the cup or having it fall off at any point during their walk. If you touch the cup or it drops, fill the cup back up with water, re-balance, close your eyes and start again. All team members can attempt this challenge at the same time but only one needs to be successful.
#13: Find a postcard that features your local area in some way and purchase it. Then click HERE to go to the Postcard Happiness Project website and scroll down to the profile for John Craig, an adult with Downs Syndrome that loves to receive mail. On your postcard include a fun or uplifting message and sign it with your names or your group name. The mailing address for John can be found in his profile description. Stamp your card and take a picture with it to show you've completed your Act Of Kindness.
#14: Take a video of at least half the members in your group completing the "Bite The Bag" challenge. Stand on one leg, bend down and grab a brown paper bag with your teeth and lift it up as you stand back up on one foot. Must remain on one foot the entire time and can not use your arms, hold onto anything, or bump into anything else. To watch a video of someone successfully completing this challenge click HERE.
#15: Get to any public sidewalk that has a decent amount of foot traffic throughout the day. Using sidewalk chalk, write the open ended phrase “Love means…” and then create a numbered list below. Have each of your team members write their own answer in a numbered space and then take a group picture while your thoughtful work of art is visible in the background. Then add one more number to the list than you needed and leave your chalk behind so that other passersby can reflect on your question and answer it themselves. Check back in later in the day to see what others have added.
#16: You can’t do an adventure hunt for Gloria without something Disney related! Get to the Elephant mural located at 3601 Main Street to set the background for one of the most iconic Disney scenes of all time. Use the walking ramp attached to the mural wall as Pride Rock from the classic Lion King scene where Rafiki raises baby Simba up to the rest of the animal kingdom. Have one person on the “rock” and the rest of the team down below kneeling and bowing down out of respect for the new king. If you can’t find a willing baby to lift up, find any funny inanimate object that you think Gloria loves nearly as much as Dustin and capture the moment with a memorable picture, or even a hilarious full video reenactment (with singing of course).
