Here Are The Rules
Complete as many challenges as you can within the given time frame. Challenges can be completed in any order.
Team members need to stay together throughout the adventure, however, if you are all at the same location and searching for something you can spread out until it is found.
Some challenges may require a few basic supplies to complete them. Figuring out how to obtain these supplies somewhere in the area is part of the experience.
After completing each challenge click the “Connection Question”. Have at least one team member answer the question while you’re at the challenge location, or as you travel together to your next location. These answers don’t need to be submitted, they are simply meant to spark meaningful conversations within your own team. The more team members that talk about their answer, the more connected you’ll become. If you choose to just have one person answer per question create a rotation of who answers next so that everyone is sharing equally.
CHALLENGES
#1: We have morphed together pictures of two different Magistrate Judges. You can view the morphed image HERE. As a team, decipher who the two judges are and then find either of them in the courthouse. Once you’ve found either one of them, wherever they are, recreate a courtroom scene with team members or strangers playing some of the typical courtroom figures. Then take a memorable picture pretending the judge just handed down the most shocking verdict you’ve ever heard!
Connection Question For Challenge #1
#2: Get to the outdoor putting green in front of Five Iron Golf in NuLu (836 East Market Street). A staff member will be on site to guide you through a putting challenge. Basically every team member will be given one putt attempt, and only one. In order to receive a point for this challenge anyone on your team needs to make a putt from at least 3 feet away (a mediocre golfer’s nightmare). However, the team that makes the farthest putt between all teams will receive an extra point. Results won't be announced until after the Finish so coming up with a killer team strategy might be the difference between zero points, or winning the whole scavenger hunt!
Connection Question For Challenge #2
#3: Tomorrow happens to be National Holistic Therapy Day, but it’s also National Dog Photography Day (it’s true, look it up). So to honor both holidays take a picture of your team performing any variation of the Downward Dog yoga pose, while you are with TWO real-life dogs. After your photo, show both dogs some love before departing. To view some Downward Dog variations click HERE.
Connection Question For Challenge #3
#4: Get your team to the Kentucky Science Center (be aware it doesn’t open until 9:30am), which has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Children’s Museums in the country! Head to the lobby where the staff have placed pieces from their foam arch exhibit for your team to construct. Please note that although the arch was moved to the lobby for your event, if other patrons are working on building it you can either assist them (if they want) or wait your turn. At some point throughout the building process you can submit a short video of your team working on it. But once it’s completed, take a celebratory team picture with the arch, making sure it’s freestanding (no one is holding it up and it’s not leaning against anything) because that shows you built it correctly.
Connection Question For Challenge #4
#5: Muhammad Ali, born and raised in Louisville, is celebrated not only as one of the greatest boxers of all time but also as a global icon for courage, conviction, and compassion. His legacy lives on throughout the city in vibrant murals and memorials that honor his impact both inside the ring and as a humanitarian and civil rights advocate. Find any image or mural of this legend’s face around the city. Once there, take an “uplifting” team picture with the mural or image in the background while team members are jumping in the air (float like a butterfly) and performing Ali’s “basic shadow boxing pose” (sting like a bee). Timing your picture so that at least some team members are in mid-air and in the proper pose will be the real challenge, so communicate well amongst your own team or with anyone taking your picture if you want to capture a legendary shot!
Connection Question For Challenge #5
#6: Get your team to the Please & Thank You Coffee Shop in NuLu (800 East Market Street). Inside find the jukebox. To complete the challenge you'll need to find a song that at some point peaked within the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Play your chosen song on the jukebox, not on your phone, and take a video of your teammates all singing and dancing along to your song. HQ will verify the song and whether it reached the Top 10 so maybe include the name of the artist and song title with your submission. There are a lot of various charts in all different genres that songs could do well in, but the standard for this challenge will specifically be the Billboard Hot 100 chart so research accordingly.
Connection Question For Challenge #6
#7: Earlier this week was National Hot Enough For Ya Day (it’s true, look it up). To celebrate, anywhere around the area, take a video of your team members all at the same time consuming separate spoonfuls of any brand of hot sauce (the hotter the better). Make sure to show the bottle or packet of hot sauce in the video so everyone knows that it's actually hot sauce you're consuming. Disclaimer, this will likely not be pleasant, which is exactly the point. Because a team that suffers together, grows together.
Connection Question For Challenge #7
#8: Anywhere along the way, take a video of your team successfully completing the Whipped Cream Catapult Challenge. Divide your team into pairs. Have one person from the pair squirt a small lump of whipped cream onto the back of their hand. That person should launch the whipped cream to their partner using the “arm catapult” technique seen in the video HERE. The second person should successfully catch the whipped cream in their mouth, or at least catch some of it in their mouth and the rest on their face. To complete this challenge at least half your team should make a successful catch in the video.
Connection Question For Challenge #8
#9: Lurking in the shadows downtown, the mythical creature seen HERE guards an underground establishment. Once you’ve found the creature, take a fun picture with it acting out a scene where it is trying to capture one of your team members and everyone else is attempting to fight it off.
Connection Question For Challenge #9
#10: Get to any clothing or apparel store and find two different items with enough in stock that every team member can be wearing the same two items in their own sizes. Then take a fun team picture with everyone wearing those items. For example it may be a wacky shirt, and a pair of shorts. Or maybe some cozy slippers and a large sun hat. As long as everyone is wearing the same exact two items but in their own sizes.
Connection Question For Challenge #10
#11: Yesterday marked the birthday of Amelia Earhart, who defied gravity and expectations as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. To honor her fearless spirit, take a video of your team completing the "Paper Airplane Challenge". Send a team member to the 2nd level of any building, balcony, or parking garage and have them toss paper airplanes out into the air in front of them (not just dropping it straight downward). The rest of your team should be on the ground level below. Any of your team members at ground level need to catch just one plane before it hits the ground. All team members at ground level can be attempting to catch planes, but only one plane needs to be caught.
Connection Question For Challenge #11
#12: In order to uphold justice and better serve the diverse communities who pass through your courtroom doors, it’s essential to listen deeply and understand the personal stories that shape the people you encounter. Take a video of your team with any stranger (not someone on your team or from the District Court) that has a tattoo while they explain what that tattoo means to them or why they got it. The tattoo must be visible at some point during the video.
Connection Question For Challenge #12
#13: In a workplace where precision, documentation, and organization are essential, chances are you've used Scotch tape to fix files, post notices, or keep things in order. But today, you’ll be using it for something far less official. To honor this incredibly versatile American-made product take a fun team picture after everyone uses Scotch tape to dramatically stretch and distort their faces. To create the proper distortion you’ll need at least 5 pieces of tape per face, although the more the better! For some inspiration click HERE.
Connection Question For Challenge #13
#14: When Alexandra “Alex” Scott was just four years old, she created a lemonade stand in her front yard and held her first childhood cancer fundraiser. That day she raised $2,000! She continued to host lemonade stands throughout her community and by the time of her death in 2004, Alex raised over $1 million and inspired a legacy of hope and cures for childhood cancer. To honor those, and their families, who are impacted by childhood cancer, take a proud group picture showing off your hands once every member of your group has gotten their fingernails painted bright yellow (the international color for childhood cancer awareness) using real nail polish. For every team that completes this challenge successfully, our company (Team Building Anywhere) will be donating $25 to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation!
